Junkie fest 2020 Teacher and Class Information
Hello!
It's time to give more details about the teachers and class options available at the July 22-26, Junkie fest 2020 event! I'm so excited to share this unique and fun experience with all of you once again. The opportunity to gather with so many of our online friends is such a fabulous treat, but to be able to hang out with and learn from so many of our industry favorites is simple amazing.
This year, there is a mix of returning teachers and brand-new teachers ready to share their expertise and exciting products with you! I'm thrilled with the variety of classes that will be available, I'm sure you will be too. There will be eight different class packages from which to choose at registration, so I know that you'll find one that fits you perfectly!
Let's meet the teachers and learn about the class offerings!
For the third year, Effie Cho of The Ton Stamps is returning from New York to share her amazing coloring and watercolor techniques. Effie is a very talented stamp designer and artist who creates very unique and beautiful products and projects. She will be teaching TWO different classes this year. One class will share her fabulous coloring and blending skills with her beautiful floral stamps. In this class, Effie will teach how to watercolor mid- to larger-sized floral images. She will cover basic floral anatomy and an in-depth tutorial on how to color each segment of a floral to create dimension and depth using color. (The floral class can be identified in the class groups below by class code 1D1, 2D1 or 3D1)
Effie will also be offering a second, separate class focusing on watercolor background techniques including painting landscape and seascape scenes. She will teach you how to create several different textures using a variety of techniques to create a landscape/seascape panel for a finished card. Effie will instruct on how to control water and paint to create light and color to achieve the perfect natural background. (The land/seascape class can be identified in the class groups below by class code 1D2, 2D2 or 3D2)

You will create 4 completely different cards using various techniques and fantastic Love From Lizi products.
Sue Doherty, product designer for Therm-O-Web, returns to Junkie fest from the Chicagoland area to share tips and techniques for cardmaking using some of the many Therm-O-Web products. Sue's enthusiasm for crafting is infectious and her knowledge of products is immeasurable. You'll have a blast exploring many Therm-O-Web products featured in this class, including the new Duo and Blanco transfer gels, Foils, Flock, and Glitz.
Stephanie Klauck from My Favorite Things returns again this year from Florida. She, along with Jody Morrow and MFT owner, Kim van der Sanden, will be celebrating all things birthday with you. You'll be singing "Happy Birthday to me!" as you open your very own July 2020 Card Kit. The MFT Crew will guide you through a series of birthday-themed cards, perfect for gifting. You'll love these 2 hours of fun, creativity and surPRIZES!
Maria Colosimo from Kitchen Sink Stamps returns from sunny California to share her unique Kitchen Sink multi-step stamps. Hers is a technique class with a focus on getting the most out of layered stamping (a stamping process that does all of the coloring for you). You will learn tips for lining up layers, stamping with various methods including stamping in descending order, ascending order, and stamping using a jig. You will learn how to choose ink colors for each layer, spot color, mixing and blending ink colors for expanding limited ink colors, easy masking techniques, and all sorts of tips and tricks for layered stamping success! Even though this class focuses more on techniques, you will leave with several completed images to finish into cards at your leisure as well as products, new skills and the confidence to create many more images.
Fleurette Bloom, owner of Inkon3, taught at Junkie fest 2018, and she returns as a teacher, bringing with her the many wonderful inks that she has worked hard and long to formulate! Fleurette will take you on a fun coloring journey using a variety of techniques to watercolor, stamp, make backgrounds and so much more. No experience necessary! Whether a beginner or advanced cardmaker, you will learn tips, tricks and techniques to easily and beautifully no-line watercolor. You will explore a variety of inking styles as well as what types of papers work best for different techniques. You will play with the new Atelier Artist Grade Fusion Inks, Fadeout No-line coloring ink, Liquid Pixie Dust, paint brushes, blender brushes, and others, including a brand-new stamp set that will be making its debut at Junkie fest!
Concord & 9th is back! Owners Angie Backman and Greg Cottrell are two people with a passion for crafting, design and product development. They crossed paths in 2010, and a great working relationship ensued. Five years later, Concord & 9th (named after their respective streets that they lived on), was born. Concord & 9th has continually provided exciting, high-quality and innovative products ever since! Angie and Greg are arriving at Junkie fest 2020 with their amazing patent-pending Turnabout products, amazingly versatile stamps and dies, and their new 2020 line of ink colors that are sure to impress! Join them to create at least two card projects as you "Learn to Turn" and meet their new summer products!
Lea Lawson lives in the Minneapolis area, and joined Junkie fest 2019 as a Make and Take guest showcasing Pinkfresh Studio products. Lea is the Marketing Director for Pinkfresh Studio, and has her dream job. She loves her role in helping to design and fine tune new products, creating marketing and social content, managing creative teams, as well as creating and teaching classes. Lea, along with coworker Heather Hoffman, will be teaching 3 card designs using exclusive products including stamps, dies and a stencil. These products will eventually be released for sale to the public, but class students will have the first chance to use and receive these products, so when people ask about these products, you can share where to watch for them! This class will be technique based, and the three full projects can be completed easily during the class regardless of skill level; you'll also have enough product to create endless cards going forward. Heather and Lea can't wait to see you at Junkie fest 2020!
Ellen Hutson of Ellen Hutson, LLC joined Junkie fest 2019 for the first time as a Make & Take guest. This year, Ellen is returning with designer and teacher, Brandi Kincaid. These two Washington State ladies will be teaching a class using an exclusive kit created especially for Junkie fest 2020! During class, you will create an interactive book/botanical-themed shadowbox card, using new, unreleased dies.
Amy and Adrienne Kennedy are the daughter/mother owners of Colorado Craft Company, a company founded in 2018, which features four distinct stamp lines: Lovely Legs, Big & Bold, Whimsy World and Savvy Sentiments. Adrienne and Amy are no strangers to the craft community, having a combined 35 years in the industry, and having previously owned a stamp company that they sold in 2017. Colorado Craft Co. sponsored a Make & Take last year, but this year are joining us in person for the first time. Adrienne and Amy will be co-teaching with friend and company representative, Daniel West (Del and Artie). They will be revealing the August Colorado Craft Company release in class, so their Junkie fest students will have the first opportunity to see and work with the new products! In class, you will learn various ways to color the new release stamps with various mediums and at various levels, from easy embossing techniques to no-line coloring.
Tanya will be teaching a class using Riley & Company's famous Funny Bones line. The Funny Bones are the original line of "snarky sayings" and they have over 900 on their website! In this class you will create five light-hearted and fun cards! All materials are provided and all are pre-cut, pre-stamped and pre-embossed. Tanya feels it's important to give students time to visit, laugh and enjoy each other, relax, color, and assemble. This is an easy-going class, as it is not demanding or stressful. Come enjoy some laughter and fun social crafting time with Tanya!
Karen Burniston is the designer and other half of KB Riley. Karen joins Junkie fest 2020 for the first time as well, sharing her unique Karen Burniston dies. Karen's KB dies are very unique in the industry as she was previously a civil engineer and she knows how to create one-of-a-kind mechanics to make cards literally become 3D! Her Junkie fest class will be using Pop Up dies to create amazing 3D pop-up cards! The class will include all pre-cut materials so that students can focus on having time to complete their projects instead of cutting materials. All materials will be included as well as a free die for each student.
